Reviewing a NTU Multimedia graduate

Looking through the alumni list, I found the work of Multimedia graduate Matthew Carlin, a motion graphics artist, video maker and web designer, to be of most interest to me.
Aside from making videos and websites, he also writes for a motion graphics blog called 'Motion Design Love' and is currently a guest writer at 'Fuel Your Motiongraphy'.

He created a showreel, with the majority of the work produced for AtomicMedia (www.atomicmedia.com), that included a range of different design elements such as text animation, motion graphics, 3D animation and some examples of his web designing using programmes such as After Effects and Cinema 4D.

I am quite interested in producing work similar to Matthew Carlin, particularly within motion graphics and also looking into web designing. I think the Multimedia programme at NTU will enable me to progress and develop my designing skills further and help me to further explore the different types of media I can use in producing work.

Prior to this course, I had been studying for a Foundation Diploma in Art & Design at the University for the Creative Arts. During my time there, I was able to create a wide range of work - from short animations within the Media pathway to sculptural work within the Fine Art department - and finding which pathway I wanted to work in.
Here are some examples of my work:

Personification - The Shawshank Redemption from Rachel Man on Vimeo

-Media pathway - 'Personification'

-Personal animation, experimenting with materials

-Exploratory Stage - Graphics, using layering techniques with different types of paper

-Exploratory Stage - Fine Art, creating an abstract sculpture from old objects

-Media Pathway, Final Major Project
