Whiteboard Animation

As an induction task to the Multimedia course, we were asked to get into a small group and make a 10 second animation (with each second consisting of 12 frames) using a whiteboard, whiteboard pens and a digital camera.
We were given a sheet with an image of the starting and end frame
:

The task was to move the box from the left hand side of the arrow to the right hand side of the arrow in 120 frames. The idea our group came up with was for a small character to try and climb out of the box, then pull the box with it underneath the arrow to the otherside (0:17-0:25).

I haven't really played around much with stop-frame animation since I finished my foundation course, so it was nice to be able to experiment again with this animation technique!

  1. Loving that approach. Are you considering pursuing this as a career?

  2. I had considered it for some time, but I've since decided to look into 3D animation. I'm specialising in Virtual Environments on my course at university at the moment and finding it extremely interesting!
